What’s it all about?
Due to the overwhelming success of our tasting tours, we’ve added them to our permanent program monthly. Join us on a food trail around Preston Market that will have you tasting and learning with the pros.. the market traders themselves. Add crocodile to your next bbq menu or impress your dinner guests with the freshest calamari rings that you cleaned, cut and cooked yourself! Pass on your new-found knowledge on parmesan cheese and finish with your latest party trick… how to choose a great watermelon without even opening it first.
Walk with us around Preston Market, the fresh food and multi-cultural hub of the North to learn all this and more. You’ll be guided though the market’s laneways and discover its rich culture. You’ll be sure to find inspiration for your weekly meals and experience the market as an ‘insider’.
What will we cover?
On this this 2 hour tour you’ll taste your way around all sections of the market. From fresh seafood to ‘unusual’ meats, unique deli items, organic produce that promotes good gut health, seasonal fruits, award-winning Paella and more. You’ll surely be inspired to create delicious dishes or take home some that have already been prepared for you.
Learn the history of the market while chatting to the vivacious traders of the market who will share their foodie tips on how to select and prepare the freshest ingredients for you and your family. We look forward to eating with you.
Who will be teaching?
Raffaela Ceddia is the Chief Eating Officer of Flavourhood Tours. She takes people out into Melbourne’s most delicious neighbourhoods and gets right amongst the locals. She loves to share her passion for small, local businesses, recipes that have been handed down through generations and unique food experiences. Founded in May 2016, its purpose is to encourage people to venture out from the well-known, more touristic parts of Melbourne and get amongst the locals. After working at the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival on restaurant and bar crawls and MC’ing at festival events she discovered her love for hosting people and showing them Melbourne’s diverse food scene.
